Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Officer
Squadron Leader Lisa O’Shaughnessy is now Wales and West Region’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Officer, taking over from Sqn Ldr David Wells, who is moving to the role of Projects Officer for the Region.
Sqn Ldr O’Shaughnessy joined the Girls Venture Corps in 1987 as the local ATC Squadron didn’t take in females at that time. In November 1992, she moved to the Air Training Corps joining 2369 (Kirkby) Squadron as a Civilian Instructor moving on to the roles of Adjutant and Squadron DofE Officer and in October 1999, was appointed to the rank of Pilot Officer within the RAFVR(T).
Having attended an Intro to Duke of Edinburgh Award Course in February 2008, Lisa expressed an interest in getting involved with the delivery of DofE training and became the Deputy Wing DofE Officer in 2009 whilst still in post as OC at Wavertree Squadron, and in 2015 was appointed to a Wing Staff generic post as the Deputy DofE Officer.
In July 2017, she was appointed as the Wing DofE Officer for Merseyside Wing with responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of the Award, visiting Squadrons to offer advice, guidance and support to Squadron DofE Officers and for arranging the Wing Expeditions and in 2018 was delighted to see the Wing top the Corps list for awards achieved. Since then, Sqn Ldr O’Shaughnessy maintained her involvement in the delivery of training, through the Wing and Regional Training Courses, and in 2018 following a successful interview process, was appointed to the role of Deputy Regional DofE Officer. She has also performed the roles of First Aid Training/Assessor for SJA Courses and is also an approved Trainer for the RAFAC Mental Health Awareness & Resilience Training Courses.
Sqn Ldr O’Shaughnessy is currently employed as a Case Development Officer with Merseyside Police.
