Since joining The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) in 2008, I have taken a keen interest and involvement in all cadet activities but ultimately target shooting has always been a passion of mine.
It has been a pleasure serving as the Wing Shooting Officer for No1 Welsh Wing over the past four years, with many successes along the way, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the staff and cadets of the Wing Shooting Team.
My new position of Regional Shooting Officer will afford the continued support and development of shooting for all Wings in the Wales & West (W&W) Region.
An important motivator for commitment and drive within the RAFAC is the cadet experience. I am constantly in awe of the continued enthusiasm, capabilities and achievements of these amazing young people. Being a part of this incredible organisation is my driving force for continued development and improvements to activities in order to offer the best cadet experience.
I will strive to offer my best in this new and exciting role. My duties will include:-
- The coordination of all shooting requirements, facilitation of competitions and course allocations throughout the 6 Wings of W&W Region.
- Promote and encourage staff development within the Region as well as advising Wing HQs on the delivery of coaching and weapon training for adults and cadets.
- Liaise on a regular basis with Wing Shooting Officers, Regional Small Arms Training Team and the Regions’ Parenting Armouries to facilitate and maximise training along with shooting opportunities that can enhance the cadet experience of W&W Region.
W&W Region will endeavour to lead the field in shooting development and cadet experience over the coming years.
